We have seen the components of strength, well if we now think about how fast that strength is applied, we have an idea about power. This could be the lifting of a barbell in a snatch, or the speed we ask the calf muscles to work in a triple jump hop or in a 5kn run

When we rehabilitate after injury or look to optimise performance, we need to consider the range we need the muscle to work through and how fast, we need to train this capacity and it makes sense that we therefore need to measure where you are before you  start to know when you are ready
